OK, I love watching movies. I can even sit through a bad movie, but I can’t forgive having wasted my time on a piece of shit movie. Most weekends I manage to get in a couple of movies with my wife. I’ll do all of you favor and give my opinions on said movies as I watch them.
Oh yeah, for all you dolts out there the above title is Weekend Movie Watch I as in the Roman numeral for one.
Anyway, the first film was Hot Fuzz. Granted, it’s a Brit film with ample examples of the kind of humor that can only be attributed to the British mindset, but the flick is hilarious and worth your time. I recommend it.
The second flick was one of the worst fuckin’ things I’ve laid my eyes on. If you watched The Science of Sleep--more accurately, La Science des Rêves--and actually liked it then you should be put against a wall and shot. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a problem with artsy flicks. I have a problem with stupid and bad films. This one was stupid, bad, and a complete waste of 1 hour and 46 minutes. The director, Michel Gondry directed the excellent Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind so I wasn’t prepared for the steaming pile of shit that was The Science of Sleep. It just goes to show you that a good director does not necessarily make a good story teller.
